Covina Community Information

The beautiful city of Covina is located 22 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Its population as of 2010 is 47,796.  Covina was founded in 1882 by Joseph Swift Phillip, on a 2000 acre tract that was purchased from the John Edward Hollenbeck Holdings. Covina was named by an engineer, Fredrik Eaton. Inspired by the valleys that formed a natural cove around the lush vineyards that had been planted by early settlers, Eaton combined the words cove and vine, and coined the name Covina for the new township.

Covina enjoys an excellent location in the San Gabriel Valley. There are four major freeways giving easy access to all areas of Southern California. Metrolink, the areas commuter rail system, provides an easy commute to Los Angeles and San Bernardino. The Metrolink station is located on Citrus ave. in downtown Covina.

Covina, with its newly revitalized downtown area, its performing arts center, well maintained neighborhoods and convenient location, is a place one can proudly call home.
